The word "Lemur" come from the the word "Lemures" which means ghosts or spirits according to Roman mythology. Lemur can be found at Madagaskar, but now a days only 100 species of lemur can found. It has a high sense of smell for communication. Generally they eat fruits and insects but they generally eat edible things. Lemur behavior is as variable as lemur morphology. Although their behaviour differs according to diet, social systems, activity patterns, locomotion, communication, predator avoidance tactics, breeding systems. Lemurs are social and live in groups that usually include fewer than 15 individuals. According to researchers, 16% of lemur species are considered to be critically endangered, 23% endangered and 25% vulnerable. There are several species of lemurs. It is believed that there are at least 100 of them that still survive including subspecies. They have a very diverse habitat there. Some of them thrive in the
forest regions and others do extremely well in the hot desert
conditions.
